DRUM MONITOR — END USER LICENCE AGREEMENT
JNP Software, Australia ("JNP Software", "we")
Last updated: 3 October 2026
Please read this agreement before installing Drum Monitor. By clicking Agree, installing, or using the software you accept it. If you don't accept it, click Disagree and don't install.
1. WHAT YOU GET
1.1A licence, not a sale. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Drum Monitor (the standalone app, its plug-in scanner and the Drum Monitor virtual audio device driver, together "the Software") on computers you own or control, for your own music-making, in line with this agreement.
1.2Ownership. The Software, its code, design, artwork, name and documentation remain the property of JNP Software. Nothing in this agreement transfers any of that to you.
1.3Trial, licence keys and activation.
(a)Trial. You can try the Software free for 7 days on each Mac. Starting the trial needs an internet connection once. Each Mac gets one trial.
(b)Licence keys. A licence key is for your own use. It can be active on up to 3 Macs you own or control at the same time. You can free a Mac's place by deactivating it in the Software, or by removing it in your account at jnp.software.
(c)Activation. Activating a Mac needs an internet connection once. After that the Software checks the licence on your Mac, without a connection.
(d)Weekly check-in. About once a week, when your Mac is online, the Software checks in with jnp.software for updates and to confirm the licence's status. If it can't connect it keeps working and tries again later. The Software is never stopped because you are offline.
(e)Refunds, revocation and removed Macs. If a licence is refunded or revoked, or a Mac is removed from it in your account, the Software shows a notice at its next check-in and keeps working for 7 days. After that it stops working on that Mac until it is activated again with a valid licence key.
(f)Without a valid licence. When the trial has ended, or there is no valid licence on a Mac, the Software goes silent on that Mac until it is activated. Your consoles, presets, settings and files are kept.
2. WHAT YOU MUST NOT DO
2.1Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, algorithms or internal workings of the Software, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this term.
2.2Copy the Software other than for backup, or distribute, sell, rent, lease, lend, sublicense or otherwise make it available to anyone else.
2.3Modify the Software, remove or alter any notices in it, or circumvent its licensing, trial or activation mechanisms.
2.4Use the Software in any way that is unlawful.
3. THIRD-PARTY CONTENT AND SOFTWARE
3.1Open-source components. The Software includes the JUCE framework and other open-source components, used under their own licences. Their notices are in Help → Acknowledgements and in the THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt file inside the app.
3.2Plug-ins, impulse responses and audio files. Third-party VST3 or AU plug-ins you host inside the Software, and impulse responses, backing tracks and other audio files you load, are the work of their respective creators and are provided under their own terms. This agreement grants you no rights in them, and you are responsible for complying with their licences.
3.3Other applications. Features that work with other applications, such as the DAW link, depend on those applications, which belong to their respective publishers. JNP Software is not affiliated with or endorsed by them, and their names are trademarks of their owners.
4. MONITORING, HEARING AND YOUR SESSIONS — PLEASE READ
4.1The Software builds the mix you hear in your headphones while you play, including its metronome and backing tracks, at levels it cannot judge for your equipment or your ears. Drummers often monitor loud to hear themselves over an acoustic kit, and long sessions at high levels can permanently damage hearing. Feedback, sudden level changes, DC offset, oscillation and extreme gain are possible with any audio software and can damage headphones, speakers, amplifiers and hearing.
4.2You are responsible for your monitoring levels, gain staging, headphone and speaker protection, cabling and connections, and for checking new settings, presets, plug-ins and backing tracks at a safe level before you play.
4.3Third-party plug-ins you host run inside the Software. They can add latency, noise or instability, or stop working, and the Software may disable a plug-in that crashes while loading. The Drum Monitor virtual audio device passes what you send to it to other applications on your Mac, such as your DAW; check what you record.
4.4Recordings, projects, presets and backing tracks are your responsibility to back up. The Software reads and writes files in its data folder and in the folders you choose.
4.5To the maximum extent permitted by law, JNP Software is not liable for damage to equipment, hearing, recordings, sessions or data arising from use of the Software.
5. NO WARRANTY
5.1The Software is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, JNP Software gives no warranty that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, compatible with your hardware or other software, or fit for any particular purpose.
5.2Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in this agreement excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where such a guarantee applies and the law permits, our liability is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the Software or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.
6. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
6.1To the maximum extent permitted by law, JNP Software's total liability to you under or in connection with this agreement, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), statute or otherwise, is limited to the amount you paid for the Software.
6.2To the maximum extent permitted by law, JNP Software is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including loss of profit, revenue, data, recordings, bookings or goodwill.
7. PRIVACY AND DATA
7.1The Software processes your audio entirely on your computer. It stores its settings, presets, MIDI mappings, backing tracks, background photos and logs on your computer, in its data folder and the folders you choose.
7.2The Software contacts JNP Software's servers at jnp.software only for licensing and updates:
(a)when you start a trial or activate a licence key, it sends an anonymised machine ID (a one-way hash worked out from your Mac's hardware ID, which can't be turned back into it), your Mac's name (so you can tell your Macs apart in your account), your macOS version, which product it is and, when activating, the licence key you entered;
(b)at the weekly check-in, it sends the app's version and, once the Mac is activated, its licence token (a signed code that identifies your licence and this Mac's machine ID);
(c)when you deactivate a Mac, it sends that Mac's licence token and machine ID so its place can be freed.
JNP Software uses this information only to provide licensing, updates and support.
7.3The Software sends no usage analytics, and never sends your audio, recordings, presets or files to JNP Software.
7.4DAW link. If you turn on the DAW link, the Software looks at the files your DAW has open to find the song you are working on, and reads that song file on your computer. If you give it the optional macOS Accessibility permission, it also reads your DAW's window title to tell which song is open. Nothing is sent anywhere.
8. UPDATES
8.1We may provide updates that change or remove features. Updates are covered by this agreement unless they come with a new one.
9. TERM
9.1This licence lasts until it ends. It ends automatically if you breach it. On a Mac whose licence is refunded or revoked, or that is removed from the licence, it ends as described in 1.3(e). On termination you must stop using and delete the Software. Sections 1.2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 survive termination.
10. GENERAL
10.1This agreement is governed by the laws of Australia, and the Australian courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
10.2If any part of this agreement is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
10.3This is the whole agreement between you and JNP Software about the Software.
